Campervan & Motorhome Finance For Business, Owner-Drivers & Fleets

Buy a campervan or motorhome through your limited company or as a sole trader. Avro arranges the finance for new, used and professionally converted vehicles, whether it's a single vehicle for your own business use or a rental fleet you're building out. We arrange the finance; whether it's tax-efficient for your business is a question for your accountant.

More businesses buy campervans and motorhomes than you might expect. Trades and contractors working away from home use them instead of a run of hotel bookings. Consultants and mobile professionals use them as a base between sites. Photographers, event businesses and production crews use them as practical working vehicles. And rental operators buy them as income-generating assets, either building a first fleet or expanding an established one. Whatever the reason, this is business asset finance: the vehicle is used to run or support the business, so the cost can be spread over fixed monthly payments rather than paid upfront.

What this covers

Buying A Campervan Or Motorhome Through Your Business

The most common question we're asked is whether a campervan can be bought through a business at all. It can, and Avro arranges this regularly for limited companies and sole traders.

Businesses buy campervans and motorhomes for all sorts of reasons. Trades and contractors working away from home often find a campervan removes the cost and hassle of hotels on long jobs. Consultants and mobile professionals use them as a base between sites. Photographers, event businesses and production crews use them as practical working vehicles. Rental operators buy them as income-generating assets.

What none of these businesses need from Avro is tax advice. Whether you can offset running costs, claim capital allowances, or treat the vehicle as a tax-efficient purchase depends entirely on how the business uses it and what your accountant advises. That's their job, not ours. Our job is to arrange the finance.

New, used & converted

New, Used & Professionally Converted Vehicles

New vehicles from established converters and dealers are straightforward to fund. Used vehicles are just as financeable, and are where a lot of the value in this market sits.

Used campervans and motorhomes are financed regularly, particularly well-maintained vehicles with good documentation. Lenders look at the age of the base vehicle, the mileage, the quality of the conversion and the overall condition. A well-presented vehicle with a clear history is straightforward to fund.

Professionally converted campervans are financed alongside factory-built and coachbuilt motorhomes. The one thing a conversion needs to be is professional. A vehicle converted to a proper standard by a competent converter is straightforward to finance; a basic or amateur conversion carried out at home is not something this product is structured to fund.

Rental & seasonal fleets

Financing A Rental Or Seasonal Fleet

Rental fleets bring their own planning questions, particularly around deposits at the end of the off-season, when cashflow is stretched without hire income coming in. A few things are worth structuring around from the outset:

  • Deposit timing matters as much as deposit size. A larger deposit reduces the monthly payment and total interest, but ties up cash exactly when a seasonal business can least afford it.
  • VAT can be paid upfront and reclaimed the following quarter, or deferred, where the funder covers it upfront and you repay it in line with your own VAT quarter, which helps preserve cashflow at purchase.
  • Term and balloon should be matched to how long you actually plan to keep each vehicle. A shorter term with a balloon payment can suit an operator replacing vehicles every couple of years, since it pays down interest more aggressively and leaves more equity in the vehicle at resale.
  • The balloon figure is set against the vehicle's estimated future market value, accounting for expected mileage, so a shorter-term balloon is set higher than a longer-term one.

Important information

Eligibility & Agreement Information

Important: Limited companies can typically be funded from £10,000. Sole traders and individuals are funded from £25,000, since UK law (FSMA, article 60C) requires a business finance agreement with a sole trader to exceed £25,000 to qualify as exempt from consumer credit regulation; deals below this figure fall outside what this product is structured for. Avro arranges unregulated business finance agreements for limited companies and self-employed commercial entities, for business use only. This is not consumer credit and does not provide the same protections as a regulated consumer finance agreement.

Common questions

Campervan & Motorhome Finance FAQs

Can I buy a campervan or motorhome through my business?

Yes. Avro arranges finance for limited companies and sole traders buying campervans and motorhomes for business use. Whether the purchase is tax-efficient for your particular business is a question for your accountant; Avro arranges the finance.

What is the minimum deal size for campervan or motorhome finance?

Limited companies can typically be funded from £10,000. Sole traders and individuals are funded from £25,000, the threshold UK law sets for an unregulated business finance agreement with a sole trader to qualify as exempt from consumer credit regulation. Most campervans and motorhomes sit comfortably above these figures.

Can I finance a professionally converted campervan?

Yes, provided the conversion has been carried out to a proper standard by a competent converter. A basic or amateur conversion is not something this product is structured to fund.

Can I finance vehicles for a campervan or motorhome rental fleet?

Yes. Rental operators are a core part of the business we arrange, whether you're buying a first vehicle to test the market or adding to an established fleet. Deposit, term and balloon can be structured around the season and the replacement cycle.

Can a new or recently started business apply?

Yes. New limited companies and recently incorporated businesses can apply, usually assessed on the director's personal credit history where there isn't a long trading record to rely on. A deposit is usually required.

Can I finance an electric campervan or motorhome?

Yes. Electric campervans and motorhomes are financed in exactly the same way as diesel or petrol vehicles.

How long does the finance term run?

Business campervan and motorhome finance typically runs up to five years. A balloon payment can be added at the end of the term to reduce the monthly cost, sized against the vehicle's expected future value and mileage.

Can VAT be deferred rather than paid upfront?

In some cases, yes. VAT can be paid upfront and reclaimed in your next VAT quarter, or structured as a deferral where the funder covers it upfront and you repay it in line with your VAT quarter, subject to lender criteria.

Is campervan and motorhome finance from Avro regulated?

No. Avro arranges unregulated business finance agreements for limited companies and self-employed commercial entities, for business use only, and does not provide consumer credit or regulated financial products.
